Six Sentence Sunday 23

I think I’ll do two final Sundays of The Ruined Lady before I move on to something else. Next week while I’m wrapping up at RT, I’ll give you a little love between Carlisle and Nick. This week I’ll give you a taste of Anthony and the hero of the third book in the trilogy, a spy with an opium addiction. Valentine is Leonora’s best friend and the man the third duke’s daughter is in love with. Francesca’s problem is that she has a stammer. (Remember, Carlisle isn’t a virgin and Leonora has a limp.) Val doesn’t think he deserves Fran so he jilts her horribly on their wedding day by letting her find him with a whore. Actually, he never touched the whore because he was plagued at the time by a war injury that wouldn’t have let him do anything with her even had he wanted to.

In this scene, Anthony has come to ask Val to infiltrate the Marquess of Whitborough’s estate to get a look at Carlisle’s illegitimate daughter.

“What is it you want me find out?” Val asked. “Or should I guess?” A smug smile was curling his lips.

“Oh, by all means guess,” Anthony chuckled and poured himself another glass of wine.

“You want me to get a look at the child, Emily.”

“Very good,” Anthony said and sipped at his wine. “Infiltrating Whitborough Marsh is a job that is perfect for your talents. I don’t know of anyone else who could do this.”

The hottie is not apropo of anything but his pose reminds me of Valentine’s despair. For more Six Sentence Sunday offerings by awesome authors and writers, click HERE.

I’m off to RT this week so I’ll be posting next week’s SSS from there. Have a good one!

Six Sentence Sunday 22

Last week I gave you some hot stuff from Nick and Carlisle, but this week let’s take a look at a pair of secondary characters who are slated to be the hero and heroine of the second book in the trilogy.  Lea is a duke’s daughter with a limp. She had her horse shot out from under her saving Anthony’s life. The dead horse crushed her leg and of course, Anthony feels guilty. And of course, Lea doesn’t want him to. She just wants him to love her.

But all that comes later. Here the two are bantering at the ball that takes place prior to Nick and Carlisle’s assignation.

When they reached the lantern lit terrace, Leonora stopped while Nick led Carlisle down the steps into the shadowed garden. They disappeared around a hedge and Leonora turned on Anthony with the force of a hurricane.

“What the hell did you think you were doing, you bastard?” she asked him furiously.

Anthony leaned his hip against the low stone railing. “Lovely to see you again too, Leonora,” he murmured silkily.

Her magnificent breasts heaved beneath the pale green gauze and for a moment he thought that being cut to shreds by her tongue was worth it for that display alone.

I’m off to look at some houses. We offered for something late on Friday but since everything is in limbo over the weekend, we thought we get in one last look at the other homes in the canyon where we want to live. Happy Sunday!

Six Sentence Sunday 21

I entered The Ruined Lady in a historical contest awhile back and this week I learned that it didn’t final. However, I had great feedback from the judges, all of whom thought it just needed some work. Which I knew because after all, I wrote this years before I was published. It head hops all over the place. Anyway, I’m hanging onto their remarks and notes for when I have the time to revise this puppy and finish it and shop it to an agent.

And now, it’s time for more from Nick and Carlisle. I almost went with secondary characters this week but decided it’s best to show how things progressed between these two from last week’s post.

His eyes met hers over the slight curve of her belly and he could see that her fierce arousal matched his own. Dipping his head, he ran his tongue along her cleft. She cried out and her fingers clutched at his hair. He licked and sucked at her until she thrust her hips urgently against his face. Then his tongue stabbed the swollen bud of flesh that begged for his touch and she let out a muffled scream. He held her hips in his hands and sucked on the bud until he felt her flesh convulse.

Did you turn your fan on yet? *wink* Hope that heated up your Sunday! For more Six Sentence Sunday participants – who just might have hot excerpts too – click HERE. Have a good one!

Six Sentence Sunday 20

Nick and Carlisle finally get horizontal in The Ruined Lady.

Carlisle shuddered at his touch. Her head tossed from side to side, strands of her silky black hair catching on the skin of his arms and increasing his arousal. One hand captured the side of her face and stilled her movements. They looked deeply into each other’s eyes as one of Nick’s fingers slid inside her hot passage.  His fingers slipped in her creamy wetness, the friction causing her breath to catch in her throat.

Oh, baby! I’m on a deadline to finish Breathe Me In by Monday night so wish me luck. And don’t forget to click HERE and check out the other Six Sentence Sunday participants.

Six Sentence Sunday 19

This week I promised you Nick and Carlisle’s assignation. Here’s the set up: Carlisle’s told Nick how to slip into her brother’s London townhouse through a library window and shown him a secret passage that opens in her bedroom.  Her brother’s at a brothel, the servants have gone to bed, and there’s nothing to stop them from enjoying each other, something they’ve not done in four long years. They’ve watched each other undress, noting the differences the years have wrought and Carlisle’s seen the scars from past duels Nick’s fought on her behalf. They’re standing on the brink of a new phase in their relationship, trying to mend past hurts and once again find joy in each other.

He felt the trembling of her body even though they only touched where his hand held her chin. Her violet eyes had darkened with pain and passion and he sensed her tears were held back only by sheer force of will. Nick raised his hands and cupped her face, his thumbs lightly stroking over her cheekbones.

“No man shall ever love you thus,” he whispered, knowing his gaze must be as hot and possessive as his emotions.

Carlisle lifted her hands to his, grasping his wrists and sliding her fingertips caressingly along the sensitive inner flesh. “Never anyone but you, Nick,” she agreed softly.
