Cowgirls Need Jimmy Too

Yes, moron that I am, I forgot to post last week on Thursday. Blame it on my deadline. But my editor LOVES the heroes of Afterburner so I think I may have redeemed myself.

This week I have a brand new Jimmy Thomas cover for you. It’s for my next Christmas Cowboys short story. Those of you who know my work know that this series started with Elle and Riley in Christmas Hookup who meet in a parking lot at a holiday class reunion.  It’s not Elle’s class, she’s a couple years older, but she’d been dragged there by her childhood friend Anne-Marie who had heard that her high school boyfriend was single again.

The series all takes place in the fictional town of Heil, California which is based loosely on my hometown of Salinas, California. Supermodel Riley Forbes owns Forbes Ranch where the next two stories take place.  In Christmas Catch, Riley’s cousin Grayson (the ranch manager) hooks up with the bodyguard assigned to Riley, a former pilot who still has nightmares.  Mitch and Gray heat up the pages for a little M/M Christmas action.

For Christmas in Hell, I went a little bit sweeter and paired Elle’s assistant Devon with one of the full-time ranch hands, former rodeo star Jared.  In this story, Devon mentions her brother Bradley as a party animal who takes off for Vegas with his buddies at Christmas to get drunk and get laid.

This year, in Christmas Wishes, Bradley doesn’t go to Vegas. He goes to Devon and Jared’s house at Forbes Ranch. Turns out the reason Brad’s been such a party animal is because he’s been pining for an older woman, Elle’s pal Anne-Marie. Anne-Marie did manage to hook up with her high school sweetheart at the reunion where Elle met Riley and they got married. Unfortunately, less than two years later, Anne-Marie’s husband becomes a victim of a suicide bomber in Afghanistan leaving her a grieving widow. Brad’s not the type to hit on a woman in such a fragile emotional state, so he spent his time hanging with his buddies, trying to forget her.

Christmas Wishes is the tale of a woman who’s returned to her roots while trying to lay her past to rest. Picking up the pieces of her life at her family’s ranch, Anne-Marie runs into Brad who makes it clear he has one wish this Christmas and she’s it.  City boy Brad is a little lost on a ranch, but Anne-Marie decides to show him the ropes and eventually this Cowgirl Cougar Christmas story has a very happy ending.

I’ve a couple of half-finished projects to complete this month and then I’ll be writing Christmas Wishes and handing it off to my editor for your reading pleasure this holiday season.

And now, I’ll unveil my holiday cover featuring Jimmy Thomas!

Don’t you wish Jimmy would look at you like that? I know I do! 😉 Oh, and for those of you who might be wondering – yes, that is the font Dar Albert used on my Rock My World cover. She was kind enough to tell me the name of it and it was luckily a free font! Woot!

Have a simply wonderful Thursday!

Not Mine, Still Hot

This cover is not mine. It’s still tres hawt. AND it’s a Jimmy Thomas cover which means it’s Thursday! Where the heck did the week go? I’m off tomorrow, taking a vacay day. Gonna write my fingers to the bone on Afterburner.

Before I leave you looking at this very hot cover let me tell you that the story inside is very hot too! And it’s a great story! Brought tears to my eyes and you all know what that means…I LOVED IT! Go get it. Read it. Smile. Laugh. Fan yourself profusely. And maybe shed a tear or two. Regina done good with this one! And YAY for Jimmy on the cover!

Ya’all have yourselves a great Thursday!

JT in the Morning

Yes, a little Jimmy Thomas in the morning to make your day go much smoother. I’m posting the cover for Hand of Fate, a holiday story coming from Passion in Print Press by my friend Lisa Alexander-Griffin, who loves having Jimmy on her covers. The cover artist is Winterheart Design (aka me.)

I’ll be back next Thursday with another Jimmy cover or photo. Until then, enjoy!

I Would Like to Thank…

It’s official. I am now an award winning author! Ride the Lightning placed 3rd in the erotica category of the 2010 Lories Contest put on by the From the Heart Romance Writers chapter of the Romance Writer’s of America. This is a really thrilling milestone in my career and I’m so excited that it happened with this story. I thought for sure it would have been the oh so popular Fire Season, but nope. My poor little red dragon with her abused past brought this one home. And I couldn’t be more proud of her!  I don’t have my badge for my website yet. That’s forthcoming but I was told I could announce this today.

I do have people to thank for helping me reach this milestone and I figure they all know who they are. My readers and friends here on the blog are a big part of this. My publisher and editor Mary K. Wilson. Nikki and Rott and the babies. My supportive co-workers who never once said, “Ew. You write what?” but have always said, “Wow! That is so cool!” All the friends I’ve made on the loops, authors and readers and fans alike. All the Bar ladies who always believed in me.  This is just the coolest thing to start the week with. I have a huge smile despite my back hurting like hell.

One more thing before I give you a Marcus… My friend and fellow author Lisa Alexander-Griffin has a new book coming out with a new press in August. Passion in Print is an imprint of MLR Press which is one of my publishers. Lisa requested that Winterheart Design make her cover so since it’s official on the cover art, I thought I’d show you what I made her.

Okay, here’s a Marcus and then I’m off to the office.

That winning posture suits my mood today. Plus,  he has great arms. Rawr.

Wishing you all an award winning Monday!

Blowing Smoke

Where There’s Smoke, Book Three of the Phoenix Prophecy, releases today and I am having a contest that starts tomorrow. Liquid Silver Books, the publisher of the Phoenix Prophecy, has a blog where authors do Morning After posts. Appropriate since the blog is called the SEx Blog. LOL So tomorrow (if my login gets fixed) I will be doing a Morning After post HERE. Every commenter on the post will be in a drawing to win all three books of the trilogy. The contest ends at 6 am Pacific time next Monday when I will draw a winner and announce it here on my regular Monday post.

I seem to have been waiting a long time for this book to see the light of day. Now that it’s here, I’ll have more promo to do. I did send signed cover flats with Dee Carney to the Romantic Times convention this past week. Hopefully, that gorgeous Anne Cain cover drew some interest in the book and series. Since I’m already promo-ing Insolence, it shouldn’t be too much extra work to toss in an additional post for WTS.

Last week I received a very nice review from BookWenches for Insolence. It’s always nice when someone who doesn’t like a particular genre reads your work in the genre and LIKES it. Apparently, Bobby at BookWenches is rather indifferent about BDSM stories. Now, I’m no hardcore BDSM author. There’s a little spanking (on a Sonny Black spanking bench), a flogger, handcuffs, and nipple clamps in this story. Mostly all in one scene. That’s pretty tame stuff really. But everyone has their likes and dislikes so despite the fact that BDSM usually leaves Bobby cold, she truly warmed up to Insolence. She gave it a 4.5 of 5 rating. Yay for Insolence!

I’m on the last leg of Common Ground and it will be going to my editor SOON! (I promise!) I know a lot of people have been waiting for the next installment of the Tales of the Darkworld and this story in particular. Giving Marius his own story has been rough though and I’ll be glad to see it finished.

Here on the home front the clusterfuck with my license plates is almost over. I have to pick up a bracket for the front one (it’s currently hanging by a coat hanger) from Dodge and have it installed and voila! Plates will be all perfect. Then the car can go to the CHP office by my work and the last two tickets will be signed off on. Hallelujah! And since I have different plates now, if I park on the street the parking nazis won’t tow my car for having too many tickets for no front plate. I feel like I’ve been bent over that spanking bench from Insolence and paddled repeatedly for no reason for months with this stupid situation. It’s almost done though. Then I won’t care quite as much about the neighbors being asses about the parking spaces.

Not sure if any of you have heard about Greene vs Sonoma County but lots of authors are trying to help Clay Greene’s cause by donating a portion of their profits on books sold at ARe. I’ve offered up my two GLBT books there – Fire Season and Christmas Catch – and 25% of my royalties on sales of those two books during the month of May will be donated to NCLR who are representing Clay Greene. So if you’ve not purchased Fire Season and have a yen to read my bestseller, do buy it at ARe.

Okay it’s time for me to stop blowing smoke and post my Monday Marcus.

No one fills out jeans and a pullover better. *sigh*

Oh, yeah. I forgot… today is Rott’s birthday. I don’t think he wants one though so I’m treading lightly. LOL Don’t forget to check out the SEx Blog tomorrow so you can enter my contest! Have a great Monday!
